Nowadays, people use the internet to search for whatever they need online, whether it is a product, services, a place, etc. Anything that can be search, they will look first on the internet. Why? because internet is the fastest way to know and access anything. With just a few clicks, internet will provide you what you ask. Search engines like Google keeps on improving their system to give their users the proper information they need.
So in short, everyone searches something on the internet, and you as a business owner or entrepreneur must use this opportunity to help your business increase your sales, but how? Well, it will always depend on what kind of website your business must have.
E-commerce (electronic commerce) is the buying and selling of goods online, every transaction is done with the use of the internet. Basically, this is how it works, a customer will buy a product to an online store by adding that product to their virtual cart, next they add the billing and shipping details then pay for that product via different kinds of payment methods, then after the payment verification, the seller will ship the product to the customer.
Some of the well-known e-commerce websites are Amazon, eBay, Alibaba, Lazada and Zalora. Most of my projects were e-commerce websites, I have created an online shop for beauty products, sports accessories, solar panels, even online market for seafood, I have created also booking website for rest houses.

Actually, this topic will support my previous post about the reasons why a website is important for a business, but more focus and detailed when it comes to specific kind of website you will need if you are selling or offering something online.

Let’s say for the seller, checking all your products and operations in your physical store is too much, and it will take a lot of your time, you will check the stocks, quantity, pricing, product description, orders, and many more. With an e-commerce website, you are just facing in front of your computer or phone checking all of this stuff with just a few clicks, advance online store platform already have a modern inventory system, easy user interface for editing your products information and managing product orders.
How about your customer, will they benefit also? Think of the time and money that your customers will save if you have an online store, instead of going to your physical store, they will just go to your website, shop and their product will be delivered to their doorstep. They can shop anytime, anywhere.

If you want your customer to trust your business, then show them everything. Transparency is important, you can include product weight, dimensions, different product attributes, proper product descriptions, product availability, discounts, shipping, etc. By showing all of this to your customer, they will feel that you are not hiding something from them.
Remember, your customer cannot touch or feel your online products and there is no sales agent that can market for your product directly so you have to include everything about your product.

You have a physical store, we know that you have an opening and closing time. The question is what will happen to your sales when you close your store? As you can see, your sales will not increase if you’re not operating. Imagine you have an online store, even if you close your physical store, your customer can still buy from you, whenever and wherever they want.

When you are starting your business, there will always a way how your customer can pay you. It’s the same thing when you are setting up an online store, your customer must have options on how they can pay so they can buy from your website with ease.

As a business owner, you always want to make sales, who doesn’t want to increase business income. But before we gain more sales, there will always expenses, even when you are starting your business, you will have expenses in hiring new staff, renting or setting up a physical store and marketing your business. For example, base on your analytics, most of your customer use mobile phones while shopping on your website. So as a business owner, you already know that you have to improve the mobile version of your website so that you can give your customer the best shopping experience.
E-commerce is a business thing and it is a huge topic that we cannot just tackle in this post at once. Also, I am not that expert enough when it comes to business, but as an e-commerce website developer, I learned a lot from my clients. I cannot finish a project without even understanding what is the purpose of every task I am doing. I have to study while developing so that I can deliver all their requirements. I am learning not just technical things like how to develop websites, but how website really works and how it can help you.
